  • Located at the end of Great Barrington’s Railroad Street extension, deep in the heart of the cultural center of the beautiful Berkshires, The Acoustic Music Store offers a combination of traditional, folk and unusual instruments, musical accessories, novelties and gifts.  And for those whose instruments are in need of a little TLC (or even an overhaul), our experienced luthier can handle most repairs in a timely manner.

We have over 100 guitars in stock from entry-level to professional-grade that include acoustic, acoustic/electric and classical instruments – with several unique, luthier-crafted instruments on hand as well.  We offer assessments of customer’s pre-owned instruments and occasionally, should it be mutually beneficial, we will offer to buy, trade or consign them on our Reverb site (see the link on the very bottom of this page) or in our store inside Claudia’s Cluttered Closeout Corner. Look further down on this page to see what is stashed in the Closet now!

Combined with a cozy, friendly atmosphere and knowledgeable staff, the guitar enthusiast is able to sample a wide variety of instruments.  From time to time, select consignment orchestral and band instruments can be found nestling amongst such unusual instruments as folk harps, didgeridoos, clay/wooden & bamboo flutes, kalimbas, dulcimers, carbon graphite guitars, cigar box guitars and the region’s largest collection of fine ukeleles and harmonicas.

Hand percussion lovers will find an eclectic mix of traditional and exotic instruments including bongos, congas, quintos,  shekeres, RhythmRings, African djembes, doumbeks, guiros, basket shakers, celtic bodhrans, prayer drums, locally-made metal tongue drums and many more intriguing examples of international percussion.

The Acoustic Music Store has been a family-owned and operated independent shop for fifteen years.  We invite you to visit us and see for yourself why we are worth the trip from (almost) anywhere!

Well-used, hard-played Guitar Research HB32 4-string, P-Bass style electric bass.  Wine red finish, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard.  This veteran rocker is missing its “tone” knob…but whatever happens on the gig, stays on the gig!  Asking $89.00 or BO; with gig bag

Pre-owned Yamaha YAS23 alto saxophone.  This horn was professionally inspected and adjusted…and although the lacquered finish is poor, all pads, corks, springs & rods are in good shape and the horn HONKS!  Comes with its own, funky gig bag.  $375.00

A very cute little pre-owned Belarussian(!) Folk Lyre.  Two octaves (tuned to Gmajor), clean and fun!  Only $19.99

One, pre-owned and rocked out late 2000s Strat-style electric guitar that mos’ def shows its age, but it still has a lotta life left!    This Asian-made Vinci is painted black with a white pick guard, rosewood fingerboard and . . . a whammy bar!  We had our luthier clean, restring, set-up and it’s ready to rock again!  Only $79.00!!! Or make a reasonable offer….

This consigned and never played(!!!), Stagg PRS-style solid body electric guitar has a truly gorgeous, flamed maple body with a delicate, sunburst finish; sleek, fast rosewood fingerboard with petit, oval abalone inlays; dual Dimarzio-style hum bucker pickups with single volume & tone knobs and 3-way toggle switch and a sturdy, fully adjustable/tuneable bridge.  This is a really fine guitar…and it’s ready to rock!  $249.00 or BO.

Pre-owned, gently played, all solid woods Fender CGO500SE-Natural acoustic/electric guitar.   This is in near-mint condition with its solid cedar top and solid ovankol back & sides; the fingerboard is ebonized rosewood with MOP inlays, and the action is silky smooth.  The proprietary, on-board Fender/Fishman Classic 4T pick-up/pre-amp system makes sure this nice guitar can be heard in a crowd!  Priced to sell at $329.00 with nice hardshell case!

This consigned beauty came to us back in 2014, and frankly, we can NOT understand why it is still here. Really, we can’t. Custom designed and hand-built by Massachusetts luthier Dave Charbonneau, this lightly used and beautifully kept gorgeous Charbonneau Shallow Jumbo acoustic 6-string guitar (#0403) is a fingerpicker’s dream! The carefully selected premium woods (Western cedar top, stunning quilted Bubinga back and sides, Pao Rosa fingerboard & bridge) combine for a warm and woody voice with deep tone, remarkable projection and excellent balance. Maple/ebony binding and abalone rosette. A tiny trace of polishing compound on the bridge and neck edge and a few micro-fine scratches are the only imperfections we can find with this exceptionally fine instrument. Most folks will find that this guitar plays easy with its jumbo frets and exceedingly comfortable action despite the instrument’s formidable size. That said, Munchkins need not apply. The instrument features an interior installed microphone for true acoustic sound AMPLIFIED!  Originally offered at $2899.00, its price was lowered to $1895.00, and then again on July 8 it was lowered again to this outrageous  STEAL @ $1450.00 (HS case included). What is wrong with you people?!? This axe is totally awesome!!!!!!!
